Apsara Art Association
A couple of years ago we came across the Apsara Art Association in Phnom Penh. This NGO (Non-Government Organisation) was founded on October 2, 1998, by Mr. Chhay Sopha and Mrs. Vong Metry, artists from the Royal University of Fine Arts. The Apsara Art Association aims to preserve Cambodian Arts and Culture by giving teachers the opportunity to teach Cambodian dance and music to disadvantaged and orphaned children.
The Apsara Art Association provides training of the performing arts (dance, music, classical and traditional theater) and aims to give foreign language lessons and part time classes to students.
The School provides accommodation, food and every day necessities to orphans and poor children as well as sending them to school.
We have been including a visit to the Apsara Art Association in our programs for several years already and supported them regularly by donations. For many of our customers this visit was one of the highlights of their trip. During weekdays you can witness the children practising at the Apsara Art Association. Children of the AAA perform once a week on Saturday and on special request a special performance can be organised.
Starting November 1, 2005, Khiri Travel will sponsor two teachers at the Apsara Art Association on a monthly basis.
